Gillside Camping And Caravan Park Ullswater

Superb location campsite facilities are good, very hot water and 3 sinks for washing up, showers are fine but could be better pressure wise. There is a breakfast truck on site if you need it. There is a beautiful river running down from the mountains that was absolutely thundering with the rain was really nice to hear in the background. A really nice place to stay, don't need your car you can literally climb mountains or hit the Ullswater lake straight from the site. will definitely stay again great campsite.

Brilliant site, just 5 minute walk away from Glenridding village centre and right on the starting path of Helvelyn. Lovely site with amazing views. You have to pay 20p to use the showers but they are hot and clean. We used the electric hook up with our tent and there were no issues it worked perfectly. Reception staff were lovely and helped us out when we realised we’d forgot our matches. We will definitely be back 😊

Absolutely amazing value for money! Ive put 5stars for 'rooms' because there are no specific pitches, it's up to you where you pitch on the field, which is lovely! Toilet/shower blocks were well maintained; although top tip would be to save a few couple of 20p's for the showers. Gillside is a perfect base if you're looking to trek Helvellyn as it's right at the start of the trail. We will continue to revisit this lovely campsite for years to come!

Our second year camping here, wonderful location, views are beautiful, very accommodating site as we came as a rather large family group, which consisted of adults, teens, young children and 3 dogs, which wasn't a problem. It seems to be a rather quiet camp site, even when they are busy with lots of campers, they don't over book, so has never been a problem pitching up at a reasonable distance from your neighbouring campers. The shower and toilet block are kept clean, they also have a large sink that would allow you to wash up some of your muddy clothing, and never short on toilet rolls. 20p for around 3-4 minutes of hot water for the showers, if you have long hair I'd advise take 40p in with you. They have pot washing facilities at the side of the toilet block, which again is always clean. Lastly they have a beautiful breakfast van that opens on a weekend if you fancy a nice breakfast bun. I would recommend this camp site to anyone who is happy to go non electric, easy going camping experience and enjoys falling asleep to the sound of the bubbling stream besides the camping field.
